Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend every traveller arranges comprehensive travel insurance before arriving in Nepal. We don't sell insurance ourselves or require you to use a specific provider — this page is general guidance on what to look for.

What to check for
- Medical treatment and emergency medical evacuation cover, specifically including helicopter evacuation from altitude if any part of your trip involves trekking
- The specific altitude ceiling your policy covers — many standard policies cap cover well below common Annapurna-region trekking altitudes, so check this carefully against your planned trek
- Trip cancellation/interruption cover
- Baggage and personal belongings cover
- Cover for the specific activities you'll do (rafting, paragliding, mountain biking, etc. can sometimes be excluded from standard policies as 'adventure sports')
When to arrange it
Arrange insurance as soon as you book, so trip-cancellation cover applies from the point of booking, not just from your departure date.
Our role
We'll ask whether you have appropriate insurance before confirming a trekking itinerary, and can point you to general guidance, but the choice of policy and provider — and confirming it actually covers your specific trip — is your responsibility.
